Group Executive Human Resources - Sangiwe Lumel Dakoda
 
 

Sangiwe Lumel Dakoda is the Acting Group Executive for Human Resources of Airports Company South Africa. He was appointed to this role in September 2019 after holding numerous HR positions in the organisation.  

Sangiwe joined Airports Company South Africa in 2013 as Senior HR Business Partner where he was instrumental in turning the HR function around at the OR Tambo International Airport. Major achievements in the year that he was at O.R. Tambo International Airport, include introducing effective HR data management and reporting and a proposal to reconfigure the way Rewards and Benefits was managed in the Organisation.

He was consequently promoted to Rewards and Benefits Specialist where he was responsible for implementing the reconfiguration of the management of Rewards and introduced a refreshed housing scheme and headed a project to design a transport scheme for employees. He was also responsible for correctly configuring the Oracle ERP Core HR module to ensure that other HR modules were able to integrate from a process and employee experience perspective. This was also critical for the development of HR Analytics.

In October of 2016, he was then promoted to the position of Group Manager Employee Relations and Engagement. The core of the portfolio centres on managing employee and Trade Union relations, employee wellness and engagement. Key highlights to date include the digitisation of the employee engagement processes and developing a new approach to driving employee engagement. Also, the digitisation of employee wellness has gone from 0% to 61%. Current major projects include the digitisation of the employee relations processes to enable effective employee relations reporting, enabling effective HR Business Partnering to improve employee and line manager perceptions of HR service delivery and reviewing the Level 1 and 2 HR processes and mapping the Level 3 and 4 HR processes. In terms of employee engagement and experience, since taking the function over, this score has improved from 3.31 to 3.54.

Sangiwe holds an Honours Degree in Labour, Organisational Psychology and Human Resources Management from University of Cape Town. He is a certified Global Remuneration Practitioner and trained Leadership Coach with years of exper​ience in Performance Management, Graduate Recruitment and Development, Internal Non-management Development and Employee Relations.

Prior to joining Airport Company South Africa Sangiwe worked for the Western Cape Government, The Parliament of South Africa and British American Tobacco.
