KwaZulu-Natal’s balmy weather and golden beaches have traditionally been a magnet for tourists. Yet this exciting province is today as much a business destination as it is a holiday mecca. Durban and its surrounds have also built a proud reputation as a convention hub and the airport has developed a reputation for handling dignitaries and delegates professionally and efficiently.
At Durban International Airport (DIA), ACSA will continue to cater for passenger growth in the short term. DIA will be de-commissioned in early 2010 when the new international airport at La Mercy comes on stream.
A ground breaking co-operation agreement was reached between the National Department of Transport, the Provincial Government of KwaZulu-Natal and ACSA to develop a greenfield airport with a trade zone at La Mercy.
