UPDATE ON THE INCIDENT AT CAPE TOWN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Cape Town - Airports Company South Africa has confirmed that
the incident that took place at Cape Town International Airport on Wednesday, 28
May 2014 has been handed over to the South African Police Service for further
investigations. There was one fatality and three people were wounded during the
While the incident took place on a public concourse and not in a security
restricted area, Airports Company South Africa, with the assistance of all
relevant security agencies, is reviewing the robustness of the safety and
security protocols and risk controls, including the safety awareness training
that tenants receive. Any recommendations that emanate from this process will be
considered and implemented accordingly to reduce the likelihood of such
incidents occurring in future.
