Airports Company South Africa, Cape Town International Airport is once again ready for the festive season. Measures have been put in place to make sure that there is a smooth transition through our airport and it is our business to ensure passengers reach their destination without any difficulties.

The airport has been hard at work executing improvement suggestions received from passengers to ensure that it remains a world-class facility and that we are ready for the influx of passengers during the festive season, said Deborah Francis: Cape Town International Airports acting Communications Manager.

Airport security is a concern and most so during this busy period therefore we would like to take this opportunity to urge passengers not to leave their baggage unattended. The airport urges passengers to arrive early for the check-in process and also take advantage of the online check-in offered by their airline. "Passengers who've used the online check-in service are asked to allow for enough time to drop off their luggage with their airlines and go through security screening points before boarding," added Francis. Passengers checking in at the airport are reminded of the one and a half hours arrival time for Domestic check-in processes and two and a half hours early for International departures.

Cape Town International Airport offers long stay parking, which is aimed at users parking for 5 days or more - the parking offering is limited to 200 bays and is on a first come first serve basis. The airport also offers a free 30 minute parking facility in Parkade 1, for those who are collecting family or friends.

With the festive season upon us it is vital to ensure passengers and airport users have a great experience at our airport, we have various activations to keep users entertained, such as complementary side-car which will be running between the terminal and the car rental areas. "There will be a tree of Good Hope where airport users will be able to share their hopes and wishes.  Airport users may also take a picture next to the beautiful tree and tag the airport on its Twitter handle @Capetownint and @Clickbuyfly and Like the Cape Town International Airport page on Facebook," added Francis. There will be interactive activities throughout the month of December, such as a drumming at the plaza and on other days, we will have face painting for children and they can play hopscotch.

The Retail division will also run competitions during the festive season. Passengers flying domestically can spend R150 or more at any of our stores and stand a chance to win a Shimansky Dancing Diamond Pendant to the value of R10 000. Should international passengers spend R2 000 at any Duty Free Store they stand a chance to win a Shimansky Millennium Diamond Ring valued at R100 000.
