The airport has been fully operational since 01st May 2010. In an effort to
continuously improve our service offering and make the airport users’ experience
seamless, we are committed to implement customer focused projects timeously and
in the least disruptive manner to airport users. The Arrivals Pick Up Zone which
has posed operational constraints and frustration to our customers will be
re-designed for your benefit. The project initiation arises out of customer
complaints and suggestions which were augmented by a traffic engineering
solution which will result in an optimal utilization of the area. Bongiwe Pityi, Assistant General Manager: Airport Operations said, “The
construction of the re-designed Arrivals Pick Up has already been commenced
with. The next phase which becomes more intense will require that the area be
closed off to the public in the interest of safety. The current Arrivals Pick Up
Zone will be closed from 27th March to 31st May 2012. On completion, the
re-designed Arrivals Pick Up Zone will alleviate congestion and offer a prime
parking facility to our customers. We are mindful of the inconvenience factor
during the construction phase and to this end we are offering a free 30 minute
parking benefit to all our customers, in the multi-storey parkade.”
