Airports Company South Africa, Cape Town International Airport (ACSA CTIA)
has once again been awarded the Best Airport in Africa and the Best Airport in
Africa for Staff Service Excellence at the SKYTRAX World Airport Awards. This
announcement comes shortly after having been awarded the Best Airport in Africa
award by Airports Council International. Our sister airport, King Shaka
International Airport also received the Best Regional Airport SKYTRAX award. The
award ceremony, which was the highlight of the week-long Passenger Terminal Expo
2012 in Vienna, Austria, was hosted live at the expo yesterday. The SKYTRAX World Airport Awards were launched in 1999 and uses satisfaction
surveys from those who matter most, the passengers, to determine quality and
global passenger satisfaction. ACSA CTIA has won the two awards a number of
times over the years since 2006, with the Best Airport in Africa Award having
been won in 2006, 2008 and 2010 with the Staff Service Excellence scooped in
2010 and 2011. The airport also scooped the 2nd Best Airport in the World for Friendliness
of Staff in 2006 and 2008 as well as the 10th Best Airport in the World in 2010,
which was a first for an African country to be in the Top 10 category. “These
achievements were made possible through and with the collective effort of all of
the good men and women serving at Cape Town International Airport, heroes each
and every one of them, committed to making a difference, one day at a time, one
passenger at a time. This reminds us that an airport is not just a building;
there is a strong team of people who work hard every day to create a positive
airport experience for all,” says Deon Cloete, General Manager, Airports Company
South Africa: Cape Town International Airport. “The awards also re-affirm our
commitment to continuous improvement and delivering the best service to all our
airport users.” “This is a proud moment not only for the airport but the
region as well; as it clearly demonstrates that we are able and are competing in
the global arena. We are proud that we are able to do our bit as the gateway to
Cape Town and the Western Cape. We are extremely proud of these accolades, which
come closely after the announcement of the Airport Council International Global
Awards in February, where the airport won Best Airport in Africa as well”, said
Deborah Francis, Acting Communications Manager, Cape Town International Airport.
Delivering an excellent customer service experience is an ongoing focus
for CTIA and its airport community. We also value the feedback we receive from
our airport users, both negative and positive, as these assist us in
consistently improving for the benefit of the airport user. “We might not always
get it right but strive to do so on a daily basis and we urge airport users to
continuously provide us with feedback. Please visit www.airports.co.za and click on contact us
under the CTIA section,” concluded Francis. |
