Charles is a chemical engineer by training with experience in design, economic evaluation, project management and operations. He holds a BSc (Chemistry), BSc (Eng.) Chemical, MBA and HDip (Tax) and is an astute dealmaker, who is credited with driving ground-breaking investment deals in untapped territories and markets.

Charles was at Rand Merchant Bank for ten years where he structured deals that created long-term value for the organisation from new customers, markets, and relationships. Most of his initiatives added impetus to RMB Africa's strategy of becoming a formidable investment bank on the African continent.

He is a versatile dealmaker, who started a successful structured leasing business that concluded transactions with both private and public sector clients. A dealmaker with an outstanding knowledge of structuring Export Credit Agency financing. Furthermore, he positioned RMB as a funding partner of choice for rail related transactions in South Africa and the continent. As a highlight of his career, Charles was instrumental in securing RMB's advisory, hedging and funding involvement in the R50 billion fleet renewal project between PRASA and Alstom Consortium (Gibela Rail) in 2013.

Charles has demonstrated strong leadership and skill in implementing cross-border transactions and dealing with African governments. His capabilities of originating, structuring, negotiating and implementing complex financial transactions are a valuable asset to Airports Company South Africa (SOC) Limited, which he joined in November 2015.
