The airport has three runways, the primary one measuring 4,900 metres (the longest civilian runway in the Southern Hemisphere and one of the few able to land a space shuttle).
Airports Company South Africa welcomes the announcement by President Cyril Ramaphosa about the gradual lifting of restrictions on international flights under Alert Level 1 from 1 October. As has been the practice since March this year, we will be guided by specific regulations and directives from the Department of Transport and the regulating body, the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) as they are published in the coming days.
