Biography:

Yershen Pillay is an Independent Non-Executive Directo r of the Board of Airports Company South Africa, a position he has held since 1 September 2018.

​Yershen has experience and expertise in Strategy, Development Finance, Transport and Logistics, Communications, Change Management, Policy Development, Research, Governance, and Cyber Security. 

From 2002 – 2005 he has held the position of UCT SRC Secretary-General and has been a member of the University Senate Committee, UCT Institutional Forum, and UCT University Strategy Committee.

In 2007 Yershen worked as Student Governance Projects Assistant: Division of Governance and Leadership at the University of Cape Town. From February 2008 to April 2009 he was the Coordinator Student Governance, SRC and Student Assembly at the University of Cape Town. He served as the Deputy Executive Chairperson of the National Youth Development Agency of South Africa from May 2009 -April 2012, and as its Executive Chairperson from March 2013 – March 2016. He was the Managing Director of K3 Logistics CC from 2010 to 2020. Currently Yershen is the Chief Executive Officer of the Chemical Sector Education and Training Authority (CHIETA).

He has presented various papers in international and local fora, which include among others, Indonesian Leadership Exchange Programme in 2005; presented a paper at the DSA Western Cape Student Affairs Conference in 2006, made a presentation in an international conference on Global Inequalities, Climate Change and Immigration in 2010; and participated in the ICA Global Research Conference on Promoting New Opportunities for Cooperatives in Finland in 2011.

Yershen completed his Master of Business Administration (MBA) at GIBS and was awarded the Top MBA Achiever Award for Trade in Africa – GIBS, UCT (2021).
