Biography:
Ntombifuthi has experience in Legal Practice, Mineral Resources Regulation, Diamond Trading, Mineral Policy Development, Gender Advocacy and Business Management. Ntombifuthi is a renowned women's rights and gender activist and she has done extensive implementation of women's rights programmes and research into the criminal justice system.
After being admitted as an attorney of the High Court in 1991, she practised as an attorney in Vryheid, KwaZulu-Natal until 1993.
From 1993 to 1997 she was a researcher and Director at the Centre for Criminal Justice at the University of Natal. She was the Director for the Domestic Violence Assistance Programme in 1997 – 1998 and she joined the Commission on Gender Equality as the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Manager in 1998 until 2001. She was the Deputy Director-General at the Department of Mineral Resources from 2001 to 2008. She was appointed as the CEO of the State Diamond Trader from 2001, a position she held until 2017. In 2018 she joined Friedrich Incorporated and became an associate in 2019.
She established the domestic violence programme and its institutional capability. She set up court-based advisory centres in five Magistrate's Courts in KZN and raised funds for the programme. She co-authored the book, ABC Guide to Women's Rights.
