ACSA confirms full scale Emergency Readiness Testing at George Airport
Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) wishes to confirm that George Airport (GA) will be activating its full-scale Aerodrome Emergency Exercise today, 9 October 2024.
The exercise, which is held every second year, is mandated by South African aviation legislation as defined by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). The objective of the exercise is to test the readiness of the airport in the event of a disaster.
The emergency exercise includes various role-players such as the South African Police Service (SAPS), the Garden route district disaster management, the Fire and Rescue Service, the Bomb Squad, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and Traffic Police, amongst others.
We anticipate a significant amount of activity at George Airport, and the public is requested not to be alarmed.
Normal airport operations will not be affected during the emergency exercise.
