BLOEMFONTEIN – Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) confirms that Bram Fischer International Airport successfully conducted a Full-Scale Emergency Exercise on 25 June 2026.
The exercise simulated an aircraft emergency scenario and tested the effective implementation of the Aerodrome Emergency Manual (AEMS) during a Phase III emergency. It brought together multiple internal departments, emergency services and mutual aid agencies to evaluate coordination, communication and emergency response capabilities.
In addition, the exercise assessed security and access control, traffic management and the dissemination of information to relevant stakeholders, while providing valuable opportunities for retraining and continuous improvement.
"Safety remains at the heart of everything we do. Exercises such as these are essential in ensuring that our people, systems and partners are always prepared to respond effectively in the event of an emergency. The successful execution of this exercise demonstrates the strength of collaboration and our shared commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational readiness," said Moses Seroto, Airport Manager at Bram Fischer International Airport.
ACSA extends its appreciation to all emergency response partners, stakeholders and airport users for their cooperation and support.
