
Mr Matome Ramokgobedi is a seasoned aviation executive and strategic advisor with over 20 years of leadership experience spanning aviation, transport, corporate strategy, governance and enterprise transformation. He has built a distinguished career leading complex strategic initiatives within state-owned enterprises, working at the intersection of executive leadership, government policy, infrastructure investment and commercial growth.
Mr Ramokgobedi currently serves as the Acting Group Executive: Operations Management at Airports Company South Africa (ACSA), in addition to his substantive role as Chief of Staff to the Chief Executive Officer. In this acting capacity, he provides executive leadership and oversight of operational performance, safety, regulatory compliance and service delivery across ACSA’s airport network.
In his substantive role as Chief of Staff to the Chief Executive Officer, and previously as Interim Chief Strategy Officer, Mr Ramokgobedi has provided enterprise-wide strategic leadership during a period of significant organisational transformation. He also leads the execution of strategic priorities, ensuring alignment between shareholder expectations, national policy objectives and operational delivery.
Prior to joining the CEO's Office, Mr Ramokgobedi served as Group Manager: Traffic Development, where he was responsible for national air service development and route network expansion across South Africa's airport network. He successfully led provincial Air Access programmes.
Earlier in his career, Mr Ramokgobedi completed professional training in Air Traffic Management with ATNS, which provided a strong operational foundation before he transitioned into airline management. He subsequently held management positions at South African Airways, where he led Fleet and Network Planning, overseeing strategic fleet deployment, route optimisation and network planning.
Mr Ramokgobedi holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Entrepreneurship, Management and Innovation from the University of Bath (United Kingdom), a Master of Science (MSc) in International Business Administration from SOAS, University of London, an Advanced Business Management Diploma and a Diploma in Transportation Management from the University of Johannesburg. He also completed S4 Electrical Engineering studies at the University of Johannesburg and has undertaken numerous executive development programmes in leadership, strategy and aviation.
