Airports Company South Africa, Cape Town International Airport
hosted its Annual Feather Awards ceremony at Cavalli Stud and Wine Estate in
Stellenbosch yesterday. The awards are based on passenger and airport users
feedback and provides Cape Town International Airport with an opportunity to
recognise top performing airport members for outstanding customer service
rendered during the year with the aim of entrenching a culture of great customer
service. “An airport experience is delivered through a variety of role players ranging
from the airlines to the baggage handlers, car hire, security screening and
more. Often times the passenger has varying experiences at these different touch
points. Our intention is to create a holistically positive airport experience by
focussing on excellent customer service. The Feather Awards is about recognising
those entities that go the extra mile to ensure that the passenger experience is
pleasurable and memorable,” said Deidre Davids, Communications Manager: Cape
Town International Airport. The awards are researched using three independent
local organisations and verified by two international organisations namely the
Airports Council International (ACI) and the Transport Research Laboratory (TRL)
in the UK. Levels of service in each category are thoroughly assessed and a
comprehensive report is compiled. The results are the average of responses
collected over an annual period. The surveys conducted targets users (passengers
and other customers) to evaluate various elements of services provided across
the airport. “We pride ourselves in having a customer centric culture within the airport
community and this is a way of acknowledging and appreciating the efforts of the
airport community,” added Davids. “Cape Town International Airport is the most award winning airport in Africa.
This does not happen by change – it’s based on the commitment and dedication to
providing the best service to users consistently. Now the passengers and other
airport users are telling us who the best of the best are” concluded Davids.
There were also special awards such as the General Manager Award won by Abdul
Khan, the Managing Director of Katanga Parking Services. The Quadriplegic
Association of South Africa (QASA) also took the opportunity to recognise those
who play a significant role in assisting special needs passengers; awards went
to the baggage handlers Swissport, Menzies Aviation and BidAir Services. The
airport would like to congratulate the winners on receiving these awards: FEATHER AWARDS WINNERS 2014 *Awards based on passenger and airport users
