East London Airport light aircraft incident
8 July 2015 – Airports Company South Africa's East London Airport can confirm the incident where a civilian, light aircraft had to conduct an emergency landing on the runway at approximately 10h33. The airport's emergency services responded immediately.
There were five passengers on board (two adults and three children). Two passengers sustained injuries and received medical attention. Due to the incident the main runway had to be closed temporarily while the secondary runway was opened for operations.
The runway at East London Airport has since been reopened. Passengers are encouraged to contact their airline for an update on their flights to and from East London.
The incident will be investigated by the Civil Aviation Authority who will issue the final report.
