ACSA welcomes the appointment of Interim Board Chairperson
Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) welcomes the appointment of Ms. Ntombifuthi Zikalala Mvelase as the Interim Chairperson of the company’s Board of Directors with effect from 1 October 2024, pending the appointment of a permanent Chairperson.
Ms. Mvelase’s appointment comes after Dr. Sandile Nogxina formally retired as a non-executive director and Chairperson of the Board at the conclusion of ACSA’s annual general meeting held on Friday, 20 September 2024.
ACSA CEO, Ms. Mpumi Mpofu has expressed her congratulations and conveyed her appreciation for Ms. Mvelase’s willingness to serve as the Interim Chairperson of the ACSA Board of Directors. “We look forward to working with Ms. Mvelase in advancing ACSA’s strategic objectives and to realising our collective goals in aviation," says Ms. Mpofu.
Ms. Mvelase was appointed as the Lead Independent Director of the Board of ACSA on 5 April 2023, and assume the Chairmanship of the Board Economic Regulation Committee.
Ms. Mvelase was admitted as an attorney of the High Court in 1991. She has experience in Legal Practice, Mineral Resources Regulation, Diamond Trading, Mineral Policy Development, Gender Advocacy and Business Management. She is a renowned women's rights and gender activist and has conducted an extensive implementation of women's rights programmes and research into the criminal justice system.
