27January 2015, Johannesburg – O.R. Tambo International
Airport kick started its 2015 back to school campaign earlier today, in
partnership with Ster-Kinekor and Spec Savers. This initiative saw pupils at Manzini Primary School in Katlehong receive
developmental stationery packs from O.R. Tambo international Airport and free
eye care, courtesy of Spec Savers. More than 500 learners were screened and those with visual impairment
received treatment and spectacles. Ster-Kinekor also stepped in to afford these
learners a free movie, to view the world with their renewed vision on the big
screen. A large number of learners in disadvantaged communities have either limited
or no access to eye care facilities and the waiting list is around 6 months,
which makes this partnership a much-needed relief. Speaking at Manzini Primary school, O.R. Tambo International Airport’s
Assistant General Manager, Kris Reddy said “South Africa counts on its youth to
provide guidance and direction in future. Visual impairment can exclude youth
from economic and social participation. This is why we will be donating a total
of 1 200 developmental pack to four schools around the O.R. Tambo International
Airport region. We are proud to invest in the future of our country today.” For more information, please contact: Neo Callis O.R. Tambo
